The funeral notice

From the funeral card

DIED,

At her home in Green[ville?], Wednesday, April 15th, 1885, at 7:05 A. M.,

Mrs. Daniel Hoover, Sr.,

in her 75th year.

Funeral Notice.

The funeral services of the deceased will be held at the M. E. Church on Friday, April 17th, 1885, at 2 o'clock P. M., Rev. J. D. Bran[t?] officiating.

The relatives and friends of the deceased are invited to attend.

The notice names the deceased only as Mrs. Daniel Hoover Sr.; Brian's research identifies her as Sarah. Our archive's index entry gives her years as 1807–1885, though the notice itself says she was in her 75th year. The full notice was read from the photograph: readings marked [?] — the place of death and the officiating minister's surname — are partly uncertain in the small scan, and the 7:05 A. M. time of death could also read 7:45. The Wednesday, April 15th death date is corroborated by the calendar: the funeral was announced for Friday, April 17th, 1885, and that date fell on a Friday.
