This is a fantastic 1837 1838 store ledger book from Marietta, Washington County, Ohio. The book starts in September 1837 and ends in March 1838. The ledger contains a great deal of genealogical and historical information for this part of Washington County, Ohio. The book is 100 pages in length and has about 1000 entries. The entries give the name of the person, what he or she bought and how much they paid.
It is not known who the original owner of this this book was but I was able to learn the location of the original owner by researching some of the people found within its pages. Through my research I was able to tell that the book belonged to someone who lived in or near Marietta, Washington County, Ohio.
While I found many of the people listed within the pages of this book lived in or around Marietta, Washington County, Ohio I also found that many were from the surrounding towns and villages in Washington County.
This ledger book is a fantastic one-of-a-kind genealogy resource for the area in and around Marietta, Washington County. If you had ancestors living in Marietta or in a nearby comunity you may find your ancestors are in this book.
