Died in the Sandy Church, Columbiana county, Ohio, Jan. 21, 1868, brother DANIEL SHIVELY aged 89 years, 11 months, and 18 days. He was a member of the church for a long time, and we think he died in the faith of having a home in heaven. Funeral services by John Nicholson and others. By Lewis Glass.

Our original posting introduces the source as "Gospel Visitor - German Baptist Brethren monthly periodical, edited by Henry Kurtz at Poland, Ohio, 1851 to -----?". The notice is signed by Lewis Glass; "brother" is the Brethren religious style. Sources differ on his birth year: our archive's index entry reads "Daniel Shively, 1799 - 1868", but the notice's stated age of 89 years, 11 months, and 18 days at 21 January 1868 puts his birth around February 1778, not 1799. The notice text is taken as authoritative (age kept verbatim, no birth date set); both readings are preserved here. Distinct from the Daniel Shively of Stark County, Ohio (died 1865), who has his own record in this archive.
