Adamstown was once named Abbanstown. Abban was the son of King Conmac of Leinster. He founded many monasteries around Wexford and Ferns. His main monastery, Magheranoidhe, was situated in this locality. Adamstown is positioned centrally in Wexford, between New Ross and Wexford town, being about 7 miles south of Ballymuckridge, on the R735 road, which turns off the Enniscorthy N30 road. Adamstown is a small village, with a church. It also gives its name to the Parish of Adamstown which forms one of the Parishes of Ferns, Wexford.
