About this record

The original contributor noted this may be a grave marker rather than a coffin plate. Bertha's parents, Fred and Bertha Bownes, were German immigrants (father originally from Ireland) living in Meriden, Connecticut. After Bertha's death, the family returned to Heidelberg, Germany, taking her remains for reburial there.

The Plaque belonged to a 3 year old girl who died of Yellow Fever in 1905 in Meriden Connecticut. Her parents shortly after moved back to Heidelberg Germany where they where from, The father was originally from Ireland. They took with them Bertha's remains and had her reburied in Heidelberg. Submited by James. Thanks James.
