Leighton Genealogy by Perley Leighton, originally through NEHGS, (but now handled by Picton Press?). In Volume 1, on page 272, ID#485: Andrew Jackson Leighton (son of Phineas & Annie Babcock Leighton) was born at Perry on Dec. 13, 1829, died there Nov. 30, 1888; married at Perry Oct. 23, 1851 to Sophia Gleason Johnson, daughter of Oliver Shedd & Betsey (Hersey) Johnson. Sophia died Sept. 13, 1864. In 1860 they were living in Whitneyville. References cited include Machias Union (a newspaper?), Perry VR's, and "Pembroke Families" by Wilder.
