welcher am 2. September 1914 bei Evaux[?] in Frankreich im Alter von 38 Jahren den Heldentod fürs Vaterland starb.

Herrn Max Augenthaler, died 1914.


English translation of the card text: "In pious remembrance in prayer of the honourable Herr Max Augenthaler, smallholder in Hebhäuser[?], Landwehrmann in the Royal Bavarian Landwehr Infantry Regiment No. 2, 6th Company, who died a hero's death for the Fatherland on 2 September 1914 near Evaux[?] in France, at the age of 38. May he rest in peace! Honour to his memory!" These small prayer cards (Sterbebilder) were given to family and friends in the Roman Catholic tradition.
