English translation of the card text: In pious remembrance in prayer of the honoured young man Xaver Bauer, farmer's son from Dalking, artilleryman in the 2nd Foot Artillery Regiment, who died a hero's death for the Fatherland on 18 July as a result of severe illness. R.I.P. Early I had to depart from this earth; farewell, all you dear ones. After a short suffering, now overcome, I am forever, forever well! You, my mother and brothers and sisters, include me in your prayers; do not forget your son and brother, who lies buried in France! We shall see one another again one day in the bright light, so, my dear ones, do not weep! Sweet Heart of Jesus, be my salvation! (300 days' indulgence.) My Jesus, mercy! (300 days' indulgence.)
