O GENTLEST Heart of Jesus, ever present in the Blessed Sacrament, ever consumed with burning love for the poor captive souls in Purgatory have mercy on the soul of Thy servant, bring him far from the shadow of exile to the bright home of Heaven, where we trust, Thou and Thy Blessed Mother, have woven for him a crown of unending bliss. Amen.
May He Rest in Peace. Amen.

This card was photographed together with several others; the transcription is taken from that composite photograph and covers the Matteo Betta card only. Between the age line and the closing line the card carries the standard "O Gentlest Heart of Jesus" prayer for the souls in Purgatory. Our archive's index entry listed him as "Malteo Betta"; the card reads Matteo. He is likely related to Mrs. Anna Betta (died 1957), whose card appears on the same composite sheet.
