English translation of the card text: Christian remembrance of Mr. Franz Buttinger, former farmer's son of the Edöler farm in Neuhofen, reserve infantryman in the 59th Infantry Regiment, 7th Company, who on 24 November 1914, north of Kraków, in the 30th year of his life, died a hero's death on the field of honour. — Far, far from my homeland I had to die; the enemy's bullet brought me death. I fell in the midst of my comrades and went with them up to dear God. Though the mound of my grave is missing, the little stars bestow on me all their shimmer; the eternal light in highest radiance — behold, it shines, shines for me forever. So farewell now, dear father and brothers and sisters; may comfort be yours in your deep sorrow. Think, it will last only a little while until I see you, see you all again. — Catholic Press Association printing house, Linz. Available from Knoglinger, Neuhofen i. I.
