Gone but not forgotten
A precious one from us has gone,
A voice we loved is stilled;
A place is vacant in our home,
Which never can be filled.
God in His wisdom has recalled,
The boon His love had given,
And though the body slumbers here,
The soul is safe in Heaven.

The card is captioned only "Mrs. Tom Cofer"; her given name and burial place are taken from our archive's memorial-cards index. The card and that index both spell the surname "Cofer"; the submitter, Debs Cofier, spells the modern family name "Cofier." Although filed among the funeral and mourning cards, our original posting describes the artifact as a coffin plate.
