Johann Damberger was the son of a professional soldier from Kleingollern, who had been a farmer for 17 years in Humertsham. Johann was a soldier in the k.u.k. Infantry Regiment Nr. 59, 16 Company. He died a hero's death in Russian POW camp Nikolsk-Duffonriiski on the 22nd of June 1915. He was 25 years old.

English translation of the card text: Christian remembrance of the honourable Johann Damberger, smallholder's son from Kleingollern, for 17 years with the farmer at Berg in Humertsham, parish of [illegible], soldier in the k.u.k. Infantry Regiment No. 59, 16th Company, who died a hero's death in Russian captivity at Nikolsk-Ussuriisk on 22 June 1915, in his 25th year of life. These small prayer cards (Sterbebilder) were given to family and friends in the Roman Catholic tradition.
