Death Record on a World War 1, WW1 death card for Ludwig Frauscher of the 1st Company KaiserSchutzen Regt Nr 1. Died aged 33 from severe wounds in a field hospital in Southern Tirol, Austria.
English translation of the card text: In pious remembrance in prayer of Mr. Ludwig Frauscher, innkeeper in Maria Schmolln, who served with the 1st Company of the k. k. Kaiserschützen Regiment No. 1, and who died a hero's death for the Fatherland on 15 May 1917, after severe wounding, in the field hospital at Besenello, Rovereto (Southern Tirol), in his 33rd year of life. The memorial verse reads: Far, far from my homeland I had to die — the enemy's bullet brought me death; I fell in the midst of my comrades and went with them up to dear God. Though the mound of my grave [illegible], the little stars send me all their shimmer, the eternal light in highest radiance — now see, it shines, shines for me forever. So farewell, dear mother and brothers and sisters; may you find comfort in this dear world. Think, it will last only a little while until I see you, see you all, again.
