Contributor's notes & card translation
English translation of the card text: In pious remembrance and prayer for the honourable and virtuous young man Johann Niedermeier of Leonberg, Chevauleger (light cavalryman) in a Bavarian Chevauleger Regiment, holder of the Iron Cross 2nd Class, born 4 March 1897, died 6 July 1918 in a field hospital as a result of nephritis (kidney inflammation). R.I.P. [Verse, partly uncertain:] My early death, my great fortune — therefore, my loved ones, do not weep; I live on with you in God's beautiful kingdom of heaven. These small prayer cards (Sterbebilder) were given to family and friends in the Roman Catholic tradition.
