The memorial card

From the funeral card

In Loving Remembrance of

Nels Peterson,

Died Jan. 17, 1917.

Aged 71 Years.

Gone but not forgotten

A precious one from us has gone,

A voice we loved is stilled;

A place is vacant in our home,

Which never can be filled.

God in His wisdom has recalled,

The boon His love had given;

And though the body moulders here,

The soul is safe in Heaven.

Copyright on the card is 1898 by H. F. Wendell, Leipsic, O[hio] — the printer's imprint, not a place of death. The card carries no place of death. Birth year (circa 1846) is computed from the card's stated age (71) at death and is not stated on the card itself.
