Soldat im 1. Inf.-Regt., 4. Komp.,
welcher am 19. Oktober 1916 in den schweren
Kämpfen an der Somme infolge Granat-
schusses nach 8-monatlicher Gefechtstätigkeit
im 27. Lebensjahre den Heldentod für das
Vaterland erlitten hat.
O Vater, Geschwister mein,
Ich kehre nicht mehr zu Euch heim,
Der letzte Gedanke, letzter Blick,
Der eilte noch zu Euch zurück.
Als ich gefallen im fernen Land,
Reichte niemand mir die Hand;
Doch, ach, mein Auge war gebrochen,
Sah ich schon den Himmel offen.
Mein Jesus, Barmherzigkeit!
Süßes Herz Maria, sei meine Liebe!

English translation of the card text: Georg Röhrmoser †. Christian prayer remembrance of the virtuous young man Georg Röhrmoser, farmer's son at Peissen in Wertach, soldier in the 1st Infantry Regiment, 4th Company, who on 19 October 1916, in the heavy fighting on the Somme, suffered a hero's death for the Fatherland as a result of a shell wound, after 8 months of combat service, in the 27th year of his life. "O Father, siblings mine, I shall return home to you no more; my last thought, my last glance, still hastened back to you. When I fell in a distant land, no one reached out a hand to me; yet, ah, though my eyes were failing, I already saw heaven open." My Jesus, mercy! Sweet Heart of Mary, be my love! Our Father. Hail Mary. Graf's printing house, Bad Aibling. These small prayer cards (Sterbebilder) were given to family and friends in the Roman Catholic tradition.
