JONATHAN CLEMENTS

Near Lone Jack, last Friday, an old gentleman names CLEMENTS and his wife were returning home from Lee's Summit, when the horse became unmanageable and ran away, throwing Mr CLEMENTS and his wife from the buggy. Mrs. CLEMENTS escaped without great injury, but the latest report, Wednesday evening, says Mr CLEMENTS was still unconscious and it is thought that he cannot recover.

P. H. Times — Oct 30, 1896

Mr CLEMENTS died on Nov 10, 1896

The newspaper article of October 30, 1896 reports the accident while Mr. Clements was still alive; the closing line giving his death on November 10, 1896 appears to be the submitter's addition. His given name Jonathan and the death place (Lone Jack, Jackson Co, MO) come from our archive's index entry for this record — the article itself names him only as CLEMENTS. "names CLEMENTS" is as printed in the original and kept verbatim. The newspaper is named only as "P. H. Times" — not further identified.
