DEATH OF MISS M. JOHNSTON

Following several months of failing health, Miss Martha Johnston, daughter of the late Thomas and Mary Johnston, passed away at the home of her nephew, Mr. Fred Jameson, Base Line, Blanshard, on Sunday, May 13th. Miss Johnston, born in York County, was a lifelong resident of St. Marys until thirteen years ago when she went to reside with her nephew. Friends will remember Miss Johnston as a true friend and kind neighbor when she resided in her home at the corner of Queen and Ontario Sts., West Ward, with her two sisters, namely, Mrs. F. E. Taylor and Miss Sarah Johnston, who predeceased her a number of years ago. She was a member of St. James' Anglican Church. The following nieces and nephew survive: Misses Florence and Kate Jameson, Blanshard, and Messrs. Fred Jameson, Blanshard, Harold Jameson of Vancouver and Percy Johnston of Port Stanley. The funeral which took place on Tuesday, May 15th, from the S. Ross Marriott Funeral Home, St. Marys, was attended by many in St. Marys and district. Rev. G. P. Parson, rector of St. James' Church officiated. Interment was made in St. Marys Cemetery. The pallbearers were:—Messrs. C. E. Richardson, W. N. Harrison, George Thompson, Joseph Rae, B. F. Lancaster and Nelson Bonis.

Transcribed from the clipping image. The clipping states she died "on Sunday, May 13th" without a year; the year 1945 comes from our original posting, which sources the clipping to the St. Marys Journal Argus of 17 May 1945 (13 May 1945 was indeed a Sunday). No age or birth date is stated in the obituary.
