Cora Emma Fisher Maus

Cora Emma Fisher, daughter of Henry and Mary Fisher, was born in Fulton county, Ind., January 6, 1870, and died near Mexico, Sept. 15th, 1899, aged twenty-nine years, eight months, and nine days. When she was quite young her mother died, leaving her to be cared for by kind friends, until her father remarried. She then lived with her parents until March 25, 1891, when she was united in marriage to Josiah Maus. To their union was born two daughters, one of whom preceded her to the spirit world about three years ago. She leaves a husband and the remaining daughter, about seven years old, besides a host of relatives and friends to mourn their loss. In February, 1895, the deceased united with the Brethren church at Mexico and lived a consistent christian life. For two long years she gently and patiently bore the severe affliction of lung disease, which finally caused her death. She was a great favorite among her many friends and acquaintances and always had a cheerful smile or kind words of condolence for all, as occasion demanded. The funeral was held Sunday at the Mexico church. Services were conducted by the Rev. Deitch, assisted by Rev. Bauman. Text, "Blessed are the Dead Which Die in the Lord." A large audience of relatives and friends was in attendance.

Obituary 2 for Cora Emma Fisher Maus

Mrs. Cora Maus, daughter of Henry and Mary Fisher, was born in Fulton County, Indiana, January 6th, and died at her home Sept. 15th, 1899. Aged 29 years, 8 months, and 9 days.

Mary Fisher, Cora's mother died when Cora was quite young, but she found loving care with kind friends with whom she staid until provided for in her own dear father's family again, by a kind and loving stepma being willing to give Cora the care needed for one her age.

Cora remained at home until March 25th. 1891, when she was united in marriage to Joseph Maus. To them were born two loving daughters, one of which it was the good Father's will to call to her Heavenly home abuut three years in advance of its dear mother. The little daughter of seven summers and the dear father and husband are all that is left of this happy family on earth. The dear mother and one little daughter in heaven, while papa and the other one are left on earth.

The deceased united with the Progressive Brethren church at Mexico, in February 1895. To this faith she proved herself true, and seemed through her two long years of severe affliction to find rest and comfort in the living hope of immortality beyond this suffering life. She bore her sufferings with the courage a christian only can. She was greatly esteemed by her many acquaintances and was always ready to welcome them to her home with a smile even in her greatest suffering she had a smile for those who came to visit her her. The funeral services was conducted in the presence of a large assemblage of friends and neighbors. Rev. Deitch, assisted by Rev. Bauman.
