Loren Walte was instantly killed by the cars at Des Moines on the evening of the 11th. He was only 12 years old.
The report dates his death only to 'the evening of the 11th' — in a May 20, 1885 issue this most plausibly means May 11, 1885, but since the month is not stated the death is recorded as 1885 only.
