John Young

On Wednesday evening John YOUNG a well known miner at the Laurel hill mine and who lived with his parents on East Lincoln avenue, was found unconscious in the street about 2 o'clock in the morning at the high embankment on the MILLER farm East of town. He was carried home by those who found him and laid on the porch of the supposition that he was only intoxicated. Early in the morning his mother found him on the porch in a semi-conscious condition. A gash was found on his head and his face was badly bruised. He could give no account as to how he received injuries, and sank rapidly until his death which occurred about noon. Foul play was suspected and the Coroner was summoned. An investigation indicated that he died of cerebral congestion brought on evidently by falling down the bank to the street. Funeral services were held from the family home Friday afternoon by Rev. JORDAN of the First Presbyterian church. He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas YOUNG, three sisters, Mrs. Walter PHILLIPS, Mrs. James RICHARDS, and Mrs. William SMITH, and three brothers: William, Robert and Thos., Jr., all of McDonald.
