Husband — James C. Wallace death reg: Born Feb. 15, 1836, Ireland. Parents unknown. Died June 8, 1920, Frontenac. Mail carrier and merchant/storekeeper, 40 years in Ontario. Died of old age and heart disease, widower. Informant: William Cole, son-in-law, Harrowsmith.

Racial/tribal origin: Irish. Nationality: Canadian. Religion: Methodist. Occupation: Postmaster. Province: Ontario. District: Addington (no. 43). Sub-district: Portland (no. N-4). Daughter Isabella: William Cole married Isabella Wallace. Isabella Cole died 1909, age 36, d/o James Wallace and Jane Babcock, living in Portland, Frontenac Co.

Note on mother's name in children's death records: Both Matilda's and Isabella's death records list their mother as Jane Babcock (born Colebrooke). The "J" in Lydia J. Wallace may stand for Jane, and Babcock may be her maiden name — or James Wallace may have remarried after Lydia's death. Unresolved; researcher to confirm.
