Johann Bader a soldier in the 18th Bavarian Reserve Infantry Regiment he was killed on the 22nd July 1916. He is buried on the Somme in a 'Comrades Grave' at Fricourt. According to the German War Graves Registration. Johann Bader ruht auf der Kriegsgräberstätte in Fricourt (Frankreich). Endgrablage: Kameradengrab
English translation of the card text: In pious remembrance in prayer of the young man Johann Bader, farmer's son from Holzlehen, parish of Forst, serving with the 18th Reserve Infantry Regiment, 4th Company, who died a hero's death on 22 July 1916, in the 22nd year of his life. Almighty, merciful God, we beseech You with trusting hearts: look graciously down upon the soul of this fallen warrior, accept the death he suffered in faithful fulfilment of duty as full atonement, and lead him into Your eternal peace. Amen. My Jesus, mercy! (100 days' indulgence.) Sweet Heart of Mary, be my salvation! (300 days' indulgence.) Sweet Heart of Jesus, be my love! (300 days' indulgence.) The verse beneath his portrait reads: O faithful son and brother, in fierce battle you ended your young life; on enemy soil, heavy and weary, your head sank down to its last rest. Now rest gently, good and faithful heart — all who knew you share our sorrow. Printed by the Weilheimer Tagblatt, G.m.b.H., Weilheim. These small prayer cards (Sterbebilder) were given to family and friends in the Roman Catholic tradition.
