English translation of the card text: Christian remembrance in prayer of the honourable Georg Beintmeier, farmer's son in Biberg [reading uncertain], parish of [illegible], soldier in a Reserve Infantry Regiment, 4th Company, who died a hero's death for the Fatherland on 5 April 1917 in his 32nd year of life [reading uncertain], of gas poisoning, in enemy territory. Farewell until we meet again, dear parents; farewell, beloved brothers and sisters. [Several further verse lines are illegible in this scan.] These small prayer cards (Sterbebilder) were given to family and friends in the Roman Catholic tradition.
