Edward Coxon, age 14 died 1889

The contributor writes: "English funeral cards for members of the Coxon family in Osmaston, Derbyshire, dated 1888 and 1889. There is also an envelope addressed to Alfred Coxon which would have fit either card."

Edward was the son of George and Sarah Coxon. A companion card for his mother Sarah Coxon (died 1889) was preserved with this one. The card’s printed date line reads “Oct. 26”; the final year digit is read here as 1889 (cross-referenced against the companion Sarah Coxon card from the same printer, whose year clearly reads 1889, and the matched envelope addressed to Alfred Coxon). This differs from our archive’s earlier index entry, which dated the card “1874–1888”; both readings are preserved, and this record follows 1889. The birth year is calculated from the card’s stated age 14 at an 1889 death (circa 1875), consistent with Edward enumerated as age 6 in the 1881 census.
