English translation of the card text: Prayer remembrance of the honoured young man Georg Hiergeist, son of a Söldner (smallholder) of Mamming, soldier in the 15th Infantry Regiment, 7th Company, who died a hero’s death for the Fatherland on 26 August 1914 at the age of 25 years and 5 months. These small prayer cards (Sterbebilder) were given to family and friends in the Roman Catholic tradition.
