The funeral notice

From the funeral card

In Loving Memory of

EDWARD PHILLIPS,

OF BRITON FERRY,

Who departed this life October 26, 1894.

AGED 54 YEARS.

Interred at Ynysmaerdy Cemetery.

Dear wife and children, do not weep,

While sweetly in the dust I sleep;

This welcome would I leave behind,

A glorious crown I hope to find.

The card spells the surname "PHILLIPS" (double-L); this record was previously filed as "Philips" and has been corrected to match. Birth year (circa 1840) is computed from the card's stated age (54) at death and is not stated in the card text itself.
