Mrs. Susan Ault

Funeral services for Mrs. Susan Ault, 73, well known Macy lady, who died at her home in Macy Sunday morning, were held from the home at 2 o'clock this afternoon. Interment was made in Plainview cemetery.

The deceased was born on a farm near Mexico, November 27, 1854, the daughter of William and Mary Cox. On February 8, 1877, she was united in marriage to Frederick Ault, who died forty years ago. Mrs. Ault moved to Macy from twelve Mile 25 years ago. She was a member of the Macy Christian church. Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Jesse Clark, South Bend; Mrs. Maude Sowers, of near Lake Nyona, and Maggie and Mary, at home.

Transcribed as submitted; "twelve Mile" is as printed in the original. The obituary dates the death only as "Sunday morning"; the year 1927 is taken from our archive's index entry for this record ("Susan Cox Ault 1854 - 1927") and is consistent with the stated age of 73 and birth in November 1854. Her maiden name Cox comes from the obituary text (daughter of William and Mary Cox) and our archive's index entry. Her son Alva Ross Ault (died 1913), whose obituary was preserved in the same bible, is a separate record in this archive; his obituary calls him the only son of Frederick and Susan Ault, while this obituary names only the four surviving daughters — consistent, as Alva predeceased her.
