Abstract & transcription

This will found in Clinton, NJ of Timothy Walker of Charlestown, Massachusetts (now a part of Boston), written and signed on August 8, 1836. The will also has a number of codicils attached in the months following. All told, the will is ten pages long in very good shape and quite legible. In the past it was folded in quarters, but now stands folded in half. Surprisingly, there is little wear along the folds.

Mr. Walker was obviously a wealthy man with much property, securities, and cash to bequeath to his progeny. Among other things, Timothy Walker was a successful businessman and served as a Director of the Bunker Hill Monument Association. Below is a list of people and organizations named in the will. Some of these folks, including Timothy Walker himself, are fairly well-known members of elite Boston society in the first half of the nineteenth century.
