Researcher's notes

Maiden name correction (Oct. 2010, email from descendant John Calder): Caroline's maiden name was Hilker, not Wilker as previously recorded. John Calder is her great-great-grandson.

Family context: After Caroline's death, John Voegtle married Catharine Voll in 1886. He died by suicide on 3 Sep 1887 in Waterloo. Their son Herbert died in a small typhoid fever epidemic in the Linwood area in 1896.

Descendant's note (Oct. 2010 email from John Calder)

The, Caroline Voegtle, mentioned above is my great-great-grandmother. The "Coffin Plates" link leads to a site which shows a photo of her coffin plate, and related information about her, but has incorrectly recorded that her maiden name was "Wilker". In fact, her maiden name was "Hilker".

Died: October 7, 1881. Linwood, Wellesley Township, Ontario, Canada. Cause of death was consumption & dropsy. She was 40 years, 7 months and 19 days old. Registered on October 10, 1881 by Rev'd H.? A. Thomas of Heidelberg, Ontario.

Buried at: Linwood Union Cemetery, 3673 Manser Road, Linwood, Ontario. Location of grave: South 4[?] 4[?], East 65[?] (the unit symbols did not survive the original page's encoding).

Headstone Inscription: In Memory of / Caroline Hilker / Beloved Wife of / John Voegtle / Died Oct. 7, 1881 / Aged 40 Yrs 7 Mo. / & 19 Days

Parents: Henry Hilker, and Sophia Hilker (nee ?).
