The Salina County Journal, Thur. Sept. 30, 1875, p-3, c-3

Mr. Geo. W. Ball, son of Mr. J. H. Ball, aged 22 years and 4 months, died of typhoid fever last Saturday morning after an illness of 9 weeks. He was buried last Sunday afternoon.

The notice says only that he died "last Saturday morning" before the Thursday, September 30, 1875 issue and gives no exact date — only the year 1875 is recorded here. Our original posting's header adds "George Wesley Ball (b. abt 1853 in IA)" — an approximate birth statement not present in the newspaper notice, so it is noted here rather than recorded as a structured birth date. The notice does not state where he died; the newspaper masthead reads "The Salina County Journal", kept as submitted.
