MRS. J. W. HENRY

The death occurred in Detroit, Michigan, on Thursday, May 10th, after an illness of three weeks, of Mrs. J. W. Henry, formerly Miss Annie Patterson, of St. Marys.

The late Mrs. Henry, who was in her 73rd year, was born on the family homestead in Nissouri, a daughter of the late James and Janet Patterson, pioneer residents of this district. For some time prior to her marriage she assisted in the shoe store which was at that time owned by her brother, Mr. Joseph Patterson. Mrs. Henry will long be remembered by those whose privilege it was to know her, by reason of a personality which endeared her to all. In religion the deceased was a Presbyterian.

Surviving besides her husband, are three brothers and one sister: Thomas Patterson of Ingersoll; Joseph Patterson of St. Marys; Robert Patterson of Thamesford; and Mrs. McKay (Jenny), of St. Marys. The funeral services were held from the L. A. Ball Funeral Chapel on Saturday afternoon, at 3:30 o'clock, with Dr. Keys officiating.

The pallbearers were: Alex Dunbar, Harold Dunbar, Harold McKay, Lyle Patterson, Thomas Patterson and Ray Patterson.

The flower-bearers were: Morgan Pickell, Henry Davis, Geo. Wood, Milt. Bolton, Robert Patterson and Jim Robertson.

Transcribed from the photographed clipping; a partial second column at the right edge of the clipping is cut off and not transcribed. Our original posting identifies the clipping as from the St. Marys Journal Argus of May 17th, 1945; the obituary gives the death as "Thursday, May 10th" without a year, so the year 1945 comes from that stated issue date. This obituary appears in the same column of the same issue as that of Mrs. Alfred E. Ball, a separate record in this archive.
