OBITUARY: MARY ANN "POLLY" (LOWE) LAWS

From the Review a weekly newspaper published in Melvern, Kansas on Thursday, May 13, 1897.

We regret to announce the death of Grandma Laws, who passed away this week, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Dickson in Rosemont, after a long, painful illness. She was nearly *eighty years old. (*Error she was 69 years old, when she died.)

Sources differ on her age: the newspaper says she was "nearly eighty years old", while the submitter's annotation states she was 69 when she died — both readings are preserved, and we've left her age off this page rather than pick one. The obituary says only that she "passed away this week" relative to the 13 May 1897 issue, so the death is recorded as May 1897 without an exact day.
