Died in the same congregration (Sandy, Stark county, Ohio), Oct. 9, 1865 brother DANIEL SHIVELY aged 77 years, 6 months, 16 days. He was a member of the church for many years.

Our original posting introduces the source as "Gospel Visitor - German Baptist Brethren monthly periodical, edited by Henry Kurtz at Poland, Ohio, 1851 to -----?" but gives no issue or page for this notice. "In the same congregration" (typo as found) refers to a preceding notice in the periodical, not reproduced in this archive; the parenthetical locates it as Sandy, Stark County, Ohio. "Brother" is the Brethren religious style. Our archive's index entry gives a birth year of 1788, consistent with the stated age, but no birth date is stated in the notice, so none is set here. Distinct from the Daniel Shively of Columbiana County, Ohio (died 1868), who has his own record in this archive.
